EMS 242 - Medical Emergencies II (3 Credits) This course prepares students to manage medical emergencies most commonly seen by advanced EMS providers. Topics include a review of the physiology, pathophysiology and anatomy of the endocrine, renal and hematologic systems and the special senses. Management strategies for disorders of the special senses, non-diabetic endocrine, renal, hematologic and infectious disease disorders are discussed. Lecture Hours: 30. Laboratory Hours: 36. Clinical Hours: 36. Prerequisite(s): EMS 208 and EMS 212 with grades of “C” or better. Course Fee: $60. Laboratory Fee: $55. Insurance Fee: $52. Usually offered in the summer.
