INT 115 - Equipment Handling and Rigging (2 Credits)


This course prepares students to select, size, assemble, adjust, and use rigging apparatus to lift, move or transport a load. Elements used include hooks and eyebolts; shackles; manual and powered hoists; wire rope, synthetic and chain slings; hitches; and other tools used in the movement of heavy objects. The identification of crane types and the use of crane hand signals is also covered. Lecture Hours: 13. Laboratory Hours: 26. Prerequisite(s): MTH 092  or MTH 094  with a grade of “C” or better or an acceptable mathematics placement test score. Laboratory Fee: $50. Usually offered in the fall.
