ENG 203 - Studies in Literature II (3 Credits) The study of a different genre (short story or poetry) is offered each term. The short story concentration offers an introduction to the short story with a general emphasis on its forms and characteristics. Critical analysis of short stories is included. The poetry concentration focuses on reading and interpreting a wide variety of poems, examining the structure and content of poetry, and writing poems in traditional and open forms. Critical analysis of poems is included. Lecture Hours: 39. Prerequisite(s): ENG 151 with a grade of “C” or better. Short story usually offered in the fall and summer. Poetry usually offered in the spring.
