MTH 201 - Calculus I (4 Credits) This course focuses on the rigorous treatment of topics traditionally covered in a first-semester calculus course including the theory of limits, differentiation, applications of the derivative, antidifferentiation, the indefinite and definite integral, integration by substitution and applications of the integral. Particular emphasis is placed on the epsilon-delta definition of limit, the mean value theorem and Newton’s method. Students gain experience constructing mathematical and simulation models. Lecture Hours: 52. Prerequisite(s): MTH 122 with a grade of “C” or better or permission of the department head. Usually offered in the fall and spring.
