CHM 202 - Organic Chemistry II (4 Credits) This course is a continuation of CHM 201 and includes the study of carbon-containing compounds, such as aldehydes, ketones, carboxylic acids and other carbonyl compounds. The focus is on the mechanism and stereochemistry of these compounds. Mass spectrometry, and infrared and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, are also explored in the identification of these compounds. Lecture Hours: 39. Laboratory Hours: 39. Prerequisite(s): CHM 201 with a grade of “C” or better or permission of the department head. Laboratory Fee: $30. Usually offered in the spring.
