EMS 207 - Assessment and Trauma Emergencies I (3 Credits)

This course provides students with patient assessment skills needed to appropriately assess, triage and treat patients with medical, traumatic and emotional injuries and illnesses. Topics in trauma include trauma systems, mechanism of injury, hemorrhage and shock, burns and thoracic injuries. Lecture Hours: 39. Laboratory Hours: 24. Clinical Hours: 24. Prerequisite(s): EMS 200 with a grade of “C” or better, SDV 100 (can be taken concurrently with EMS 207) or permission of the department head. Course Fee: $60. Laboratory Fee: $55.
