This program provides students with a foundation in the biological, physical and social sciences as they relate to human health. This program is designed for individuals seeking entry into a health care profession or planning to transfer into bachelor’s degree programs in fields such as health sciences, public health or health administration.

Learning Outcomes


Graduates of this program should be able to:

  1. Explain fundamental concepts in human anatomy, physiology, microbiology and chemistry as they relate to health and disease;
  2. Apply the knowledge and skills to perform the duties of an entry level health care professional;
  3. Recognize individual and cultural differences in all aspects of health care;
  4. Compose written documents and deliver oral presentations that summarize scientific concepts for academic and health care audiences;
  5. Identify risk factors for disease and recommend strategies for prevention based on current evidence; and
  6. Prepare for transfer into a bachelor’s program in health sciences.
