Program Code: EDU.AA.TES
This program prepares students to transfer to a four-year institution to major in secondary education and teach seventh through 12th grade. Students should familiarize themselves with the program requirements of the institution to which they plan to transfer. In order to graduate, students must obtain a grade point average of 2.75 or better and receive a grade of “C” or better in all required courses. They must also obtain Praxis Core individual scores of 156 in reading, 162 in writing and 150 in mathematics. Praxis Core can be waived by earning a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better after all program requirements have been fulfilled or by earning minimum scores in one of the following standardized tests: SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test) combined reading and mathematics score of 1,180; ACT (American College Testing) composite score of 24; or GRE (Graduate Record Examination) combined verbal and quantitative score of 297.

Graduates of this program should be able to: - Identify and describe the historical, philosophical, sociological, political and legal foundations of education and explain the structure and organization of schools, roles of classroom teachers, influences on teaching and learning and contemporary educational policy and issues;
- Explain and compare the major theories, concepts and principles of human growth and development; and
- Identify the basic theories of learning and teaching and apply the theories of teaching to a learning environment.
