Program Code: BMT.AAS.PLS
This program awards certain Maryland professional license holders 12 college credits to meet the technical training requirements for an associate of applied science degree. The licenses recognized for this degree are those for which the total number of training, journeyman and/or apprenticeship hours exceeds 600 hours. The professional licenses recognized for this degree are barber, barber stylist limited, master barber, cosmetologist, hairstylist, esthetician, journeyman or higher HVAC license, master electrician, journeyman or higher plumber/gas fitter, plumbing inspector, journeyman or higher natural gas fitter, licensed real estate appraiser, certified residential real estate appraiser, certified general real estate appraiser and Grade 1, 2 or 3 stationary engineer.
The required courses in this program are business oriented and designed to prepare students for advancement as supervisors or business owners, to prepare them for higher-level courses or to transfer their credits to a four-year college or university. Students should familiarize themselves with the program requirements of the institution to which they plan to transfer. In order to graduate with this degree, students must complete at least 36 credit hours before submitting a copy of their active state license with an expiration date that is at least three years from their anticipated graduation date.
