ENG 087M - Literacy for Multilingual Learners This course is designed to prepare students for college credit courses ENG 095 and/or ENG 096 or ENG 097 . Areas of instruction include reading comprehension, listening comprehension, conversational speaking, vocabulary, grammar, and paragraph and essay writing. The course is self-paced and completed online through Blackboard. The work may be completed on campus in the reading and writing center or anywhere the student has access to a computer and the internet. Students are encouraged to spend a minimum of four to six hours each week working in the center, where they will have access to qualified instructors to assist them with course materials and instruction. Students are placed in this course as a result of completion of the adult basic education English course sequence or their ESL placement test scores, and they must register with an advisor in student development. They must complete this course with a grade of “C” or earn acceptable placement test scores before taking ENG 095, ENG 096 or ENG 097 or any credit courses. Usually offered in the fall, spring and summer.
