This program prepares students to transfer to a four-year college or university and work toward a bachelor’s degree. While pursuing a liberal arts background, students enrolled in this program focus on literature and writing electives. Learning Outcomes
Graduates of this program should be able to:
- Use close reading strategies to interpret a variety of literary texts from diverse cultures and time periods;
- Analyze literature and film through various critical frameworks and understand its place within its biographical and historical milieus;
- Develop the critical thinking skills necessary to create cogent arguments, conduct and integrate effective research, and support those arguments with clear, effective prose; and
- Develop creative processes by analyzing and writing poetry and prose with focus on application of literary techniques and individual expression.
